Our hibiscus is in bloom! Each time i open the door and look out, this pot of hibiscus flowers seems to call out, “paint me, paint me!” So, i finally did.
I’m not a good gardener, but God is. After all, He is the one who created everything. Through the Bible, i’ve learnt many gardening truths. Whenever a plant does not bear flowers or the flowers have become straggly, i will have to prune it till it is almost bare. It’s quite heart-wrenching to cut and throw away branches of beautiful flowers, leaving our balcony plants bare for a few months. But with some tilling, fertilizing or changing of new soil, by God’s grace, the plants will gradually grow new shoots and flowers will start to bloom again.
On the other hand, when the plant is too infested with pests, it will remain weak and eventually die, no matter what i do to salvage it.
It’s so much like our soul. Through our many trials and tribulations, God keeps pruning us, hoping to purify us like gold in fire. However, when we become too entrenched in our weaknesses or sins, only God alone can save us. By R
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” John 15:1-2 (NIV)
