Beyond the Clouds

September 14th is the day that Stephen, my brother, left us in his sleep. He was energetic, sporty and adventurous. One month before his passing, a Chinese physician even did a check-up on him and certified that he was in the pink of health.

But it turned out to be the complete opposite when Renee and I were woken up in the middle of the night by a phone call. Since then, we have a phobia of hearing the phone ringing after midnight.

No one really knows what happened to Stephen that night. There are many questions unanswered, many whys. But we pray that he is with Jesus in heaven because of what the Lord has promised:

“No one has gone up to heaven

except the one who came down from heaven,

the Son of Man who is in heaven”  John 3:13

No one knows exactly where heaven is, although we are likely to point at it beyond the clouds. And on the Feast of “The Exaltation of the Holy Cross”, we implore God to lead each of us home, for He has redeemed us by His Cross.       By Ben
